Rooster Rojo has been making Tequila since 2000 but started its venture into Mezcal in 2022. Rooster Rojo Mezcal is handcrafted by Lopes Sosa Palenque, a small craft distillery in San Juan del Rio of Oaxaca, Mexico.

Each bottle is signed by the Maestro Mezcalero (the master mezcal maker) Rodolfo Lopez Juan which confirms that he has been following the correct production processes and signifies his approval that this liquid is perfect for mezcal aficionados around the world. The bottle is dark, similar to traditional clay bottles.

The purpose of this is to prevent the liquid from being affected by direct sunlight and to ensure it is not visible to the ‘bad eye’ before consumption. This is a traditional Oaxacan belief. This is a rich and fruit mezcal with hints of smoked herbs.
